Education and Professional Experience:
1974 BS, Foods and Nutrition, Cornell University
1979 MS, Nutrition Education, Columbia University, Teachers College
These two degrees supported 20 years of full time teaching of undergraduate and graduate Nutrition courses. My teaching developed a strong affinity for curriculum work and faculty development as a service to the University.

In 2001 I assumed a position at a community college (CC), in a grant funded position to revise the campus-wide curriculum and implement assessment of student learning in all programs. In 2002 I was promoted to an Associate Dean and oversaw the academic administration of health-related programs at the CC.
In 2003 I began as Assistant Director, Medical Education, Department of Family and Social Medicine at AECOM. I am involved in all aspects of medical education, for both students and residents, and faculty development initiatives supporting curriculum and grant funded education projects.
In 2009, I assumed a position at the Hofstra SOM in partnership with the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System as Assistant Dean of Medical Education and Director of Faculty Development.
This position is focused on designing a new medical school to begin in 2011.
Scholarly Interest:
My interest is educational research focused on the scholarship of teaching and learning, including curriculum design, implementation, assessment of learning and evaluation of curriculum and program processes. I am connected to the continuous quality improvement process as applied to the education platform of medical education among all levels of training and including diverse teaching venues: didactic, clinical, and community settings. My current position focuses my scholarship on measuring competency based assessment, supporting accreditation criteria, as established by external accrediting agencies. In addition innovation curriculum design, assessment and evaluation of selected learning paradigms are another area of scholarship. This includes multimedia teaching tools, participatory community-based research projects, a social medicine curriculum module, resident as teacher curriculum and developmental competency-based assessment tools.
Personal Background:
I am married with three children, ages 29, 26, and 18. My eldest is a 4th year orthopedic resident at Tufts, my second child is a Rabbinic student at Hebrew College in Boston and my youngest is a sophmore in College and a Spanish/premed major anticipating a career in medicine. My husband is a child psychiatrist with a career in academic psychiatry. My co-curricula time is spent as a volunteer for professional organizations, both nutrition and higher education focused. In addition, I am committed to social justice to continually try and heal the world through my work with my synagogue and community activities. I love to exercise, specifically swimming, cycling, skiing and kayaking. Staying fit is a lifetime goal I have for myself and my family. Travel with family/friends and gourmet cooking are other pastimes I enjoy regularly.
