I do agree that it seems very difficult to get some buy in with subtle behavior we use in relation with patients. We probably need to be more explicit and take more devoted time to reach the goal.

May be we are partly responsible because we mitigate the message. May be our best and brilliant students come from different cultures that express less empathy.

I would suggest the book The OUTLIERS by Malcolm Galdwell.It gives us food for thought even for clinical teachears who deal with a type of outliers.
